You probably don’t want to dedicate the time or money to your curls. So, instead of investing most of your paycheck and down-time on your hair try following these simple tricks to achieve healthy, tamed curls. Enjoy!
1. Condition the right way
Squeeze in conditioner from the mid shaft to your ends. Then detangle with your fingers and rinse with cool water to lock in the moisture.
2. Never leave without leave-in conditioner
This tip is essential if you have curly hair or are prone to dryness. You will immediately notice a difference in your hair health and texture.
3. Skip the shampoo if you have dry hair
For those of your with extra dry hair skip the shampoo completely and try washing your hair with only conditioner once a week.
4. Don’t towel dry your hair
Towels absorb too much water and moisture of the hair, resulting in frizz. Instead, try using a smooth T-shirt to prevent tangles and frizz.
5. Try pineappling
The pineapple trick is when you pile your hair loosely on top of your head to define curls and eliminate frizz. This will prevent gravity from pulling your curls out.
6. Use coconut oil
Try applying coconut oil over your hair as a deep conditioner before your shower. For very dry hair rub some on the ends for styling.
7. Use a silk or satin pillow case
Sleeping on a satin or silk pillowcase is recommended over a cotton one. Cotton will ruffle your hair and cause more frizz. Plus, who doesn’t love a silky pillow?
8. Use a wide tooth comb
Using a wide tooth comb over a regular brush will reduce frizz and keep your waves and tendrils in tact.
Invest in a humidifier for your home. The humidifier will keep your hair and skin from drying out and encourage curls.
10. Avoid washing your hair on rainy days
Instead, spray your hair with a mixture of water and leave-in conditioner.
11. Steam your hair
Steam your hair over a bowl of boiling water in order to let the moisture penetrate your curls. After just put a moisture serum in and you’re done.
12. Avoid touching your hair
When you touch your pair you increase frizz, making your curl and waves harder to see. You could also tangle it when touching it excessively.
13. Don’t completely rinse out all conditioner
Your curls need all the moisture they can get, so it’s okay to leave some conditioner residue for some extra help.
14. Comb properly
When combing your hair, gradually move upward instead of starting at the roots. This will make entangling knots much easier.
15. Lather, Rinse, NEVER repeat.
For most hair types shampooing once is enough. This way you won’t be stripping your beautiful curls of its natural oils that keep it soft and moisturized.
